Layering properly is the key to staying warm during eastcoast winters without spending a ton of money 💰
Purpose: This guide will have you ready to brave a 30degree or below outdoor football or walking around in a frigid east coast city all day and night. Layering is important and allows you to shed layers to cool down. The only thing worse than being too cold is being to hot.
-
Long Wool socks (thermal socks will probably work too but I haven't tried them)
-
Face mask (optional if hat worn below) - Face protection is great if it's windy but the stadium and the people may shield you a bit. It also protects your neck.
-
Winter Hat - This is what most people will wear instead of a face mask. Make sure it covers your ears or you may want Ear muffs.
Vaseline - Put on your face to protect you from the cold
- Long shirt
- Sweater/Hoodie
- Jacket* - to break the wind (your base layers should do the most work at keeping you warm though)
NOTE: If you layer up right you shouldn't need a super super heavy winter jacket. If you do get a really fancy heavy duty ski jacket you are going to want to drop some of the base layers or you may overheat.
