We're looking for a student to co-op/intern at WXXI (working from home is cool too!) to continue work on a year-long community engagement project. Yellr is a joint effort between Hacks/Hackers Rochester and WXXI to make a hyper-local community reported news app and website. Check out more info at:

Yellr has been a year-long effort to create an entire ecosystem of tools to assist WXXI in reaching out to the Rochester and Monroe County communities on a hyper-local level, while maintaining full anonymity with a editorial firewall for shared content.

The ideal candidate will be able to work off of github issues and a software requirements documentation (read: no micromanaging). The candidate would need to be proficient in HTML, SASS, Javascript, and preferably would have a functional understanding of angular.js and/or handlebars.js. Here are the technologies we use:

Front-end (in no particular order):

Angular.js

Back-end:

Python 2.7
Pyramid

MySQL
ImageMagick
