OSX for Hackers: Yosemite/El Capitan Edition. This script tries not to be *too* opinionated and any major changes to your system require a prompt. You've been warned.

git pr - Global .gitconfig aliases for Pull Request Managment

Install

Either copy the aliases from the .gitconfig or run the commands in add-pr-alias.sh

Usage

Easily checkout local copies of pull requests from remotes:

  • git pr 4 - creates local branch pr/4 from the github upstream(if it exists) or origin remote and checks it out
  • git pr 4 someremote - creates local branch pr/4 from someremote remote and checks it out

Survey of screenshot-based CSS testing tools

Currently considering https://github.com/webdriverio/webdrivercss

Core Goals:

  • Can test in up-to-date versions of all major browsers
  • Can test on up-to-date versions of all major OSes
  • Can test in IE9 (because Bootstrap v4 will support IE9+)
  • Don't want to have to setup/maintain our own cluster of VMs running all the necessary OSes (and all the versions of Windows)
  • Workflow for management of reference/baseline/norm screenshots

System Design Cheatsheet

System Design Cheatsheet

Picking the right architecture = Picking the right battles + Managing trade-offs

Basic Steps

  1. Clarify and agree on the scope of the system
  • User cases (description of sequences of events that, taken together, lead to a system doing something useful)
    • Who is going to use it?
    • How are they going to use it?

Free O'Reilly Books

Free O'Reilly books and convenient script to just download them.

Thanks /u/FallenAege/ and /u/ShPavel/ from this Reddit post

How to use:

  1. Take the download.sh file and put it into a directory where you want the files to be saved.
  2. cd into the directory and make sure that it has executable permissions (chmod +x download.sh should do it)
  3. Run ./download.sh and wee there it goes. Also if you do not want all the files, just simply comment the ones you do not want.
