Quantified Self: Robbie Smith and Mike Schutte

  • What are your learning goals for this project?

Robbie: Learn more JavaScript, maybe pure JS challenge Mike: similar, ES6, pure JS, TDD

  • What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?

Robbie: mix of both, value in both approaches Mike: same. sitting side by side helps.

  • How do you communicate best? How do you appreciate receiving communication from others?

Robbie: honest and direct Mike: same + sarcasm

  • How would you describe your work style?

Robbie: should take more breaks, new concepts take a bit Mike: slow learner with new stuff sometimes

  • What’s gone well or poorly in your previous projects?

Robbie: group member used tutorial (copy+paste), GitHub comments inconsistent. Mike: can get attached to my own work, indecision about direction. GitHub workflow.

  • What do you need (resources, environment, communication) to do your best work?

Robbie: good to go Mike: same, low maintenance

  • What scheduling restraints do you have? What are your scheduling preferences?

Robbie: flexible. Tuesday (Remote) 2:30pm, Wednesday 1pm. Typically at Turing between 7:30 and 8. Mike: 3pm Monday, Tuesday 6-8pm.

  • What is your style for giving feedback? Does anything ever hold you back from giving feedback?

Robbie: honest and direct. Mike: same.

  • What do you identify as being your biggest strength(s) technically, as they relate to this project? Where do you feel you could use improvement in your technical skills, as they relate to this project? How can our team help support you in improving these skills?

Robbie: Uncertain because of newness of JavaScript. Good at refactoring and identifying patterns. Mike: Interested in using JS classes. Familiar with JS. TDD.
