Intro

  • Personal curiosity about the mysterious “pomodoro”

Background

  • Francesco Cirillo in the 1980’s
  • Tomato timer
  • “timeboxing” and “iterative and incremental development”
  • Task size and Parkinson’s law: “work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”

The Basics

  • Select tasks or tasks
  • Work for 25 minutes on timer
  • Check mark somewhere
  • 5 minute break
  • 25 + 5 section = 1 pomodoro
  • Every 4 pomodoros, take a 15-30 minute break and reset checks to 0.

Objectives

  1. Keep track of check marks to review pomodoros required for whole task.
  2. Cut down interruptions
    • Inform, Negotiate, Schedule, Call back
  3. Estimate future tasks based on trends
  4. Add structure to Pomodoro
  5. Proactively set pomodoros in timeline
