SSH into your EC2 instance. Run the following:
$ sudo yum install gcc
This may return an "already installed" message. That's OK.
$ wget http://download.redis.io/redis-stable.tar.gz && tar xvzf redis-stable.tar.gz && cd redis-stable && make
