The Unblinking Eye never cared too much about Hat Plaza. It was too far away, too remote for | |
him to worry about. Instead, he would busy himself with his career as a Central Web Manager, | |
where he would sell hats. While he would work, The Unblinking Eye wished for some adventure | |
in his life. But not too much. | |
The Unblinking Eye's boss was Gregory, a Future Directives Liaison. Gregory was not a nice | |
man, but he gets the job done, and that's all that mattered. Nothing else did. | |
The Unblinking Eye loved his job. | |
--- | |
Gregory had a passion in life: to build benches. But his passion could not make money. | |
Gregory needed a real job. So, Gregory created a company: McClure-Hills. Gregory was | |
excited about his company, before he realized he had a competitor: Hat Plaza, led by CEO | |
Julian. | |
How dare did Hat Plaza exist! Hat Plaza's business was cutting into McClure-Hills's | |
profits, preventing Gregory from gaining enough free time to pursue his hobby. | |
Hat Plaza had to be eliminated! So Gregory did every dirty trick in the book to smear | |
Hat Plaza's excellent reputation. Julian was seen as a horrible monster, and Hat Plaza's | |
business collapsed. All the while, Gregory's profit margins grew. | |
Gregory refused to adapt his morality to the corrupt and immoral society. All in a | |
day's work. | |
Gregory loved his job. | |
---- | |
One day, Julian arrived to the corporate offices of McClure-Hills. A guard came and asked | |
for an 'ID' to verify his presence. Julian said that he came from the Hat Plaza, here | |
for "vengeance". Julian did not want to panic, and then stabbed the guard. | |
The Unblinking Eye saw Julian from his windows, and predicted this would happen. | |
Julian saw The Unblinking Eye right back, and reconsidered his own world view. | |
Julian had a purpose: to kill Gregory. Julian hated how Gregory tried to destroy | |
Hat Plaza years ago. It was time to pay him back. | |
Julian broke through the doors of McClure-Hills and ambushed Gregory in the hallways. Julian | |
refused to make any assumptions or judgement calls and stabbed Gregory. Gregory knew that | |
the natural social order is tyrannical and must be reformed, and called for help. "If you | |
cannot give me help", Gregory cried, "then give me justice!" | |
Gregory then died of blood loss. Julian perceived the extent of the situation. | |
Happy with his evil deed, Julian left the building, and returned back to Hat Plaza. | |
--- | |
Without the leadership of Gregory, McClure-Hills's revenues decreased. The Unblinking Eye's | |
co-workers left McClure-Hills to work at other startups. Only The Unblinking Eye cared about | |
Gregory's call for justice. | |
The Unblinking Eye started training for combat, looking for the location of Hat Plaza and | |
researching the weaknesses of Julian. The Unblinking Eye wondered why most people would not | |
listen to the truth. | |
--- | |
After 5 days of planning, The Unblinking Eye was ready! He relied on peer-reviewed case | |
studies, and then left the deserted halls of McClure-Hills, to travel over to Hat Plaza | |
and end the life of Julian. But, Julian was prepared. | |
When The Unblinking Eye arrived at Hat Plaza, Julian was waiting. The Unblinking Eye | |
deliberated, while Julian quickly browsed Twitter to research the socio-economic trends | |
that had led to the current crisis. Julian stabbed The Unblinking Eye in the heart, and | |
The Unblinking Eye collapsed to the floor. But, The Unblinking Eye knew that his own | |
survival was not important: only the death of Julian. | |
The Unblinking Eye pulled out his own knife and slashed Julian's legs. Then, | |
The Unblinking Eye died from blood loss, pleased at last that Gregory's request for | |
'justice' was fufilled. | |
Julian stared at his own wounds, and thought he would be capable enough | |
to handle the task. He then looked up, and saw his son, Larry. Julian said, | |
"Avenge my death." | |
When Julian died, Larry examined the positives and negatives of the situation, | |
and buried Julian in the hallways of Hat Plaza. But Larry had no intention of | |
avenging Julian. There was nobody to avenge. McClure-Hills was already in its | |
death throes, and everyone that mattered had already died. Larry knew | |
that the circle of violence had to end one day. Instead, Larry left Hat Plaza | |
to pursue his own passion: to study bags. |
