back, and ok if u can't talk. i'm liberal. and i'm basically looking for a place in OR that is like Hood River and has good schools. i don't know if that's possible. we were thinking of talking to a real estate agent and wanted to know if u had any advice/friends/leads. we're thinking of doing a scouting mission in Dec. Also, in a more wide sweep, if you could live anywhere in the pacific NW, where would that be and why?
heh
so, there are only a couple cities in portland that i'd choose
i'm also quite liberal
so there are some that are out of the question (e.g. Pendleton - too conservative)
kk
go on
Portland, obviously
Bend, Hood River
Ashland is great, but it's way down by the california border
a lot of people like Eugene, but it's a big college town
i'm not all that into it
Astoria has some potential, but it's an old fishing town right on the mouth of the columbia at the ocean
and, finally, there are a couple nice things about Newport, if you ignore the sprawly parts
it's on the ocean
so, in order of my preferences:
Portland, Bend, Hood River, Ashland, Astoria, Newport
ok, cool. that gives us a wider net
if you're interesting in Washington
go on!
you'll need to check out Olympia
i like no takex
taxes
and, potentially Bellingham
ok, Bellingham is one of those people mention as great
it is
close to cananda (two hours to Vancouver)
close to Mt Baker
close to the water
but it's far north, so it's much wetter and colder
Olympia is a great town, but it's sort of in the middle of sprawl, kind of like Eugene
i have some friends who live in Wenatchee
but i've always thought of Wenatchee as being a bit conservative
gotcha
they love it there
right smack in the middle of the cascade mountains
so our ideal: a place closer to Portland with access to mountains and a rural setting with good schools
Hood River
heh
cool
that's waht we keep hearing
there are smaller communities on the other side of Mt Hood
but they are much quieter
we love quiet
places like Zig Zag, Rhodedendron
we live in the Santa Cruise mts now
2 stores for 10 miles
you might like those areas then
400 families total
south side of Mt. Hood
about 45 minutes from Portland if you miss all the traffic
20 minutes to Timberline
10 to Ski Bowl, Government Camp, etc
k, on the phone now
ok, thanks for all!
