Interesting Startups in The Recruiting & Hiring Space

Finding people who want to work for your startup should be easy.

Companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter have transformed the general perception of joining a startup in recent years. What was once seen as a risky move is now seen as a promising opportunity by recent graduates and veteran workers alike.

"Startups are no longer niche; they have gone mainstream."

–Daniel Gulati, co-author of Passion & Purpose

Finding the right person to work for your startup isn't always easy. Despite access to a large pool of enthusiastic candidates, founders often find themselves facing three dilemmas:

  1. Good applicants who aren't a culture fit for a fast-paced startup (where people don't just work from 9 to 5, Monday - Friday).
  2. A limited budget that makes you more risk-averse to hiring the wrong person.
  3. Inability to attract top talent who feel more comfortable working for established companies with proven tech.

Even tech giants like Google admit they can’t find a solution to the hiring problem. Laszlo Bock, Google’s senior vice president for people operations, told LinkedIn in 2013:

“We looked at tens of thousands of interviews, and everyone who had done the interviews and what they scored the candidate, and how that person ultimately performed in their job. We found zero relationship. It’s a complete random mess.”

So if Google can’t work it out, what chance do the rest of us have? Well technology has come a long way since 2013, and there are a handful of startups that are claiming to have a genuinely tried-and-tested approach when it comes to smarter hiring techniques.

Below are some of the recruitment startups that everyone - from startups themselves, to big enterprise customers - are looking to, to help them find not just the best talent to hire, but also the best fit for their company culture.
