Questions

  • We're expected to deliver a theme that's installable for the Bob's Red Mill team. How would you accomplish this? Download the theme and modify the CSS? Can you do that with a licensed theme? => we will build a new

  • Is there a responsive template that you would recommend? Is there one that's very popular and commonly used?

  • How flexible are themes? How much can we customize them? =>

Requirements

The end-client is a CPG brand called Bobs Red Mill. http://www.bobsredmill.com/ They recently migrated to Magento EE and are using an out of the box template.

Our client, Hello Design is responsible for design and front end development, delivering front end files for their IT team to integrate into Magento.

Please help them and me provide the estimate for front-end development & doing Responsive for these tasks:

  • Homepage
  • Product Category Page
  • Product Detail Page
  • Recipe Landing Page (note – Recipe section leverages a WordPress plugin)
  • Recipe Detail Page
  • Cart and Checkout Pages
  • Storefinder Pages
  • Coupon Page
  • About Us Pages (History, Process, Quality, Employee Owners, Nutrition, etc.)
  • Campaign and Special Content Landing Pages

Below are those additional requirements. Let me know if you have any initial questions or if this is enough for you to finalise a detailed estimate?

  1. Magento Theme: The design must be able to be applied as a Magento theme. The design needs to be built as a “skin” and applied as a Magento template so that when we patch Magento (e.g., for security upgrades or version updates) the site stays fully functional according to the standards of the Magento core files.
  2. Magento Version: We want to make sure your design is geared to this new version of Magento Enterprise Edition, release 1.14.2.
  3. Recipe Section: The recipe section of our website is not a core Magento module; instead, it is a Wordpress plug-in. We want to make sure that the design files will be compatible with that as well. We integrate Wordpress into Magento using and our wordpress uses http://www.wpultimaterecipe.com/. There are also multiple modules bringing both Wordpress and Magento together.
  4. Ecommerce Layout: Your proposal calls for referencing our current ecommerce aspects of the site, for instance the layout of our product display pages. I realize this is what we originally requested when we spoke a few weeks ago, but we’ve thought about it and we would rather defer to your layout recommendations—no need to try to stick to the current format.
  5. Devices: At the point in the process where you present 4 design screens to illustrate how the system would work across different page types, we would also like to see what the page types will look like on mobile and tablet.
  6. Browsers: Visitors to our website use browsers that go back 2 versions from the most recent release. Would you please confirm that your design will be functional across that span of browser versions?
