  • Seiza-ed when the coach (said to be then-manager Taira Fujita) was angry.

  • Hit a walk-off homerun on an intentional ball. Said "Gonna win tomorrow again!" in the post-game interview; after then the team went on a 12-game losing streak.

    Said "We'll win the pennant!" post-game at the end of '92 season. -> Hanshin lost the pennant.

    June 12, '99: Said "We'll win again tomorrow." after walk-off on an intentional ball. -> Lost the next day.

    September 10, '99: Hit a game-winning homerun in the bottom of 8th against Balvino Gálvez. "Will win again tomorrow." -> 12-game losing streak.

    September 20, '04: Walk-off homerun. "Will win again tomorrow." -> Hanshin lost 2 straight, while Fighters got eliminated from the playoffs.

  • Played in the All Star Game with extremely poor hitting average. Game had to stop because the audience threw water bottles onto the field in an effort to boycott his appearance.

  • Once performed a "Uno-style", catching a fly ball with his face.

  • Failed to catch a Shinkansen because of signing autographs for too long.
