thundering herd checker for select-accept pattern
#! /usr/bin/perl
#
# to test:
# 1) run this script with either "accept" or "select-accept" as the argument
# (the script listens to 127.0.0.1:12345)
# 2) telnet localhost 12345
# 3) if you see "accept failed", there is the thundering herd problem
#
#
use strict;
##
# Creates an alias called "git hist" that outputs a nicely formatted git log.
# Usage is just like "git log"
# Examples:
# git hist
# git hist -5
# git hist <branch_name>
# git hist <tag_name> -10
##
git config --global alias.hist "log --pretty=format:'%C(yellow)[%ad]%C(reset) %C(green)[%h]%C(reset) | %C(red)%s %C(bold red){{%an}}%C(reset) %C(blue)%d%C(reset)' --graph --date=short"

Overriding S3 HTTP Headers (Ruby)
# Given an S3 URL, this returns a signed S3 url that will force the browser
# to download the file rather than opening it in the browser window. The key
# is to add response-content-disposition to the query string, which tells S3
# to send the content-disposition header you specify. S3 will respect this
# parameter only if the URL is signed. You can override other S3 headers such
# as content-type using this same method. See:
#
# http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/API/RESTObjectGET.html

NGINX tuning for best performance

NGINX Tuning For Best Performance

For this configuration you can use web server you like, i decided, because i work mostly with it to use nginx.

Generally, properly configured nginx can handle up to 400K to 500K requests per second (clustered), most what i saw is 50K to 80K (non-clustered) requests per second and 30% CPU load, course, this was 2 x Intel Xeon with HyperThreading enabled, but it can work without problem on slower machines.

You must understand that this config is used in testing environment and not in production so you will need to find a way to implement most of those features best possible for your servers.

import urllib, re, os, urlparse, json, random, sys, getopt, gzip, math, time
from multiprocessing.dummy import Pool as ThreadPool
from cStringIO import StringIO
