For a trial reset remove the entire key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{dc8137d7-6d72-3550-a000-ae9c2affc92}
after that reboot. :) |
if i have multiple empty folders or keys, whatever they are called, what do i do? (i have startallback not startisback btw)
For StartAllBack, trial reset now on this path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Classes\CLSID{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}
looking for an empty folder {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} and delete it
maybe need reboot. :)Thank you, my dude!
Thanks, work for me
Thank you for thanking him xD
@sinnlosername So, let's say you are the author of StartIsBack. You do it for a living. Do you think that anyone should have access to a script resetting the trial of your application? I would not like that. What I did was save time for people who are able to write a script like this anyway.
You are not the developer . So why are u butt-hurt ? Are you a moral police or what ? If you did not want then why did you make your script in the 1st place ? Kid wants credit for his work . lol

If you think it hurts your business, then go invest in a better anti piracy. But it's most likely not worth it, because people who look for cracks shouldn't be your target group anyways.
I deleted 2 of the empty keys bcs I didn't know which one to delete, and for some reason, It activated my licence (not trial)

Thanks, this works in powershell for Win11,

This registry key does not exist on Windows 8.1. Does anyone know how to perform the trial reset for version 1.7.6 on Win8.1?

@callatebiaggio For StartISBack (atleast on my installation, 2.9.20) the key is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\
. My key happened to be named {yyyy yyyy}
for some reason.
I've included a .xml in my gist that you should be able to import into Task Scheduler that nukes the key upon logon.
If you want to do it yourself you can just make a task that runs reg.exe
with the argument delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\[INSERT KEY HERE]" /f
.

That script would be useful if i knew which folder had the key but im not kidding when i say theres like over 1k and most of them look like this (the red line is how much i have to scroll to get to the last one) im using the same StartISBack version as you btw
What in the actual heck is going on with your system
can you try running reg.exe delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{yyyy yyyy}" /f
and see if it does anything?
Nothing

I hope no one is dumb enough to ever click that link and download whatever crazy virus it happens to be..

Sorry, should've mentioned it's StartAllBack only. Does not work for StartIsBack.

Worked perfectly. Thank you!
It is not necessary to restart the PC, you can restart the explorer and everything works
I don't even understand these scam links. Why here? StartIsBack/StartAllBack is already a niche product and this trial workaround is therefore a niche within a niche. Feels like there would be 'better' places to try and scam people than here.
