This policy covers the Langol apps for iPhone and iPad — Langol and Langol ESL — published by Postbyte.
Langol does not collect your data. There is no account to create, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code in the app. Everything the app does with your speech and your writing happens on your device.
We — the developers — cannot see your practice sessions, your recordings, your replies, or your progress. Not because we choose not to look, but because none of it is ever sent to us. We operate no server.
On your device. Your learning tracks, practice sessions, saved bookmarks, points, weekly goals, and notification history are stored in the app on your device.
In your own iCloud, if you are signed in. That same information syncs through Apple's iCloud service to your other devices, using your private iCloud database. This is your personal iCloud storage: it belongs to your Apple Account, it is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, and we have no access to it and no ability to read it.
If you are signed out of iCloud, the app works exactly the same and keeps everything on your device only.
Settings. A small number of preferences (such as whether you have completed the introduction) are stored locally on your device and are not synced or shared.
Langol asks for microphone access so it can hear you speak during conversation practice. Your speech is converted to text on your device, using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Recordings are not saved, and neither the audio nor the transcript is ever sent to us or to any third party.
You can decline microphone access and still use the app — type your replies instead. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Langol checks your replies, explains mistakes, and writes your session summaries using Apple's on-device intelligence — the language model built into your device. Your replies are not sent to a cloud service for processing, ours or anyone else's.
Translations and pronunciation likewise run on your device.
The app itself makes no network requests. Your device may still use the internet on your behalf, through Apple's own services:
- iCloud sync, to carry your progress between your devices.
- Downloading language assets — translation and speech-recognition files that Apple provides, so the app can work offline afterwards.
- The App Store, to install and update the app.
These are Apple services, handled by the operating system and covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. None of them sends anything to us.
- No analytics or usage measurement.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of personal information — there is nothing to sell.
- No third-party software development kits in the app.
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email address required.
Langol is suitable for all ages and is rated 4+. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. To remove synced information from iCloud, use Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Any change that affects what the app collects would appear here, in the app's privacy details on the App Store, and in the privacy manifest included in the app.
