- run "alpine"
- press "s" for Setup
- press "c" for Configure
- arrow down to "NNTP Servers" and hit enter
- input "tilde.town" and hit enter
- hit "e" for Exit
- hit "y" to save configuration change
- You should be back at the main menu. Select "Folder list"
- You should see "nntp on tilde.town". Select it
- press "a" to add a newsgroup. easiest thing is to put in "tilde." and then hit tab a few times.
- type in the name of each newsgroup you wish to subscribe to and hit enter (feel free to sub to all of them)
- to post, select a newsgroup and press "c" and follow prompts
- to reply, select a message and press "r" and follow prompts
- anything not prefixed tilde.town.* is based on tilde.club. We federate our tilde.town.* to them, we get their tilde.club groups back**
- I am not happy with this experience and will be investigating other clients / how to set them up Automagically for users
I think
tin -r
on tilde.club is maybe the most newcomer-friendly alternative going, for whatever that's worth.
