when i was starting to grasp what gods were
i remember asking my mother
what was painted on the walls of wat pra kao
who were the two men with green and white faces
painted endlessly on the walls of the temple of the emerald buddha

that's /hanoo-mawn/
the white monkey

he was the leader of the army of king ram,
the earthly incarnation of phra narai
hanuman, son of the wind
had magical powers
could fly

and that's /toatsa-gaan/
the evil demon king
do you see his ten faces and twenty arms ?

totsagan, the rival of phra ram,
had kidnapped his wife,
the beautiful nang seeda
and had kept her in his palace of gold
for over fourteen years of constant battle
between the cities of ayutaya and longka

this is why these two fight on these walls
this is what i learned of the gods
