Online man pages comparison

Man page browser comparison

There are a bunch of man page browsers available online. They have different data sources, feature sets, and disadvantages, so here is a short comparison table:

MinGW doesn't provide a linux-like environment, that is MSYS(2) and/or Cygwin
Cygwin is an attempt to create a complete UNIX/POSIX environment on Windows.
MinGW is a C/C++ compiler suite which allows you to create Windows executables - you only
need the normal MSVC runtimes, which are part of any normal Microsoft Windows installation.
MinGW provides headers and libraries so that GCC (a compiler suite,
not just a "unix/linux compiler") can be built and used against the Windows C runtime.

Makefile for Go projects

Go has excellent build tools that mitigate the need for using make. For example, go install won't update the target unless it's older than the source files.

However, a Makefile can be convenient for wrapping Go commands with specific build targets that simplify usage on the command line. Since most of the targets are "phony", it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons of having a dependency on make versus using a shell script. For the simplicity of being able to specify targets that can be chained and can take advantage of make's chained targets,

OSA JavaScript recipes

For a while, you've been able to script Mac OS using JavaScript using JavaScript for Open Scripting Architecture (JSOSA). This is a huge improvement on AppleScript. Why? JavaScript isn't a great language, but it broadly follows the conventions that programming languages of the C/ALGOL family have followed for decades. AppleScript is a horrendous mess that should never have come into being.

Let's compare.
