## Longer
Hi $name,
Apologies for the delay, some of you have been waiting in the queue for a while now.
Welcome to the Foundations mailing list, the best resource for getting in contact with and tapping the collective knowledge of people involved in the co-ordination and administration of free & open source related non-profits - for everything from tax status and fundraising to who a good lawyer might be, through event planning gotchas, social protection for foundation employees, and good trademark policies - this list has seen a lot of discussion over its lifetime.
I encourage you to look through the archives, join the #foundations IRC channel on Freenode, and introduce yourself on the list.

## Including links
Hello $name, and welcome to the FLOSS Foundations mailing list, a group of more than 300 members representing over 50 different free software and open source organizations and projects. The FLOSS Foundations groupis intentionally not an incorporated entity. Instead, it's a forum and a resource for "people who get stuff done" to join, get in contact, andtap the collective knowledge and experience of others in similar roles across the FLOSS community.
The mailing list has seen a great deal of discussion over its lifetime, covering a broad range of topics including reasons to create an entity for a FLOSS project and reasons not to, fundraising, who a good lawyer might be, event planning gotchas and codes-of-conduct, social protection for foundation employees, good trademark policies, contribution policies, and fostering diversity. All of these conversations are available in the mailing list archives [0].
For more information, please have a look at the FLOSS Foundations website [1].
Please note: The FLOSS Foundations list is hosted by our friends at freedesktop.org and operates according to their Code of Conduct [2]. By participating in the list you agree to obey this Code of Conduct.
Several community members chat on the #foundations channel on the Liberachat IRC network. Please join us! If you're unfamiliar with IRC, webchat [3] is available, as well as a getting started guide [4].
Many members find it's helpful if their first post to the mailing list is them introducing themselves. Not only does this allow us to get to know you a little better, it also lets us all welcome you in our own ways.
To post to the list, send your email to [email protected].
Whether you choose to introduce yourself or not, welcome! We're very happy to have you join us.
