An easy way to stand out from the noise

Hello, my friend!

I have a quick one for you this week. Most creators focus on the quality of their content. By having higher-quality content than other creators, we hope to stand out.

This makes sense – and the bar gets higher all the time. So you should absolutely take the quality of your content seriously.

But at the same time, there are countless opportunities to stand out that you're probably ignoring:

  • Your email post-subscribe page
  • Your welcome email
  • Your social media bios
  • Your about page
  • Your post-purchase pages
  • Your post-purchase email sequences
  • Your customer support responses

...basically, everything OUTSIDE your content.

Every single touch point with your audience is an opportunity to meet, exceed, or fail expectations.

When you exceed expectations, you build trust, loyalty, affinity, and word of mouth. And while the quality bar for content rises all the time, the bar for exceeding expectations outside of content is shockingly low.

You can stand out here. You can be different by caring about the details. I promise you this stuff stands out – and when you're getting started, you need to take every advantage you can get.

The best part is that most of these investments in the details are one-time efforts. There are so many customer touchpoints that are already automated but their content ignored.

Here's your homework: Visit your own website. Better yet, sit someone down and have THEM visit your website. Ask them to subscribe to your newsletter or take whatever action you want your audience to take. Watch them go through your customer journey and document every bit of communication they encounter. You can customize each of these touch points to make them unique to YOU.

Every single touchpoint is an opportunity. Take them all seriously.

Do you know who does a great job of this? Kieran Drew...

Even if you’re not selling your products or services, you’re always selling your ideas. If you can’t persuade people to pay attention, you’ll never get enough traction for your business.

But you don’t need to spend hundreds of hours studying the skill to enjoy the benefits. My friend Kieran Drew put together a simple framework that covers the 80:20 of what you need to know.

Just run through his simple 8-step checklist for any material you’d like to be more persuasive in—social content, emails, videos, sales pages. Whatever.

And the best part? You can get the e-book for free.

How to get more customers

How to get more customers

I heard a simple, three-part framework for getting new customers on TropicalMBA (which they credited to Alex Hormozi):

  1. Do more
  2. Do it better
  3. Do something new

More, better, new for short.

These are three different customer acquisition strategies that you should consider one at a time in this order.

WE'RE LISTENING 👂

What's working for you?

Every few months, I start a thread in The Lab called "What's working right now?"

It is an absolute gold mine of insight and ideas, and I thought I'd emulate some of that with readers of this newsletter as well.

What's working for you right now? Hit reply and let me know – I'll share some of the responses in next week's newsletter (as well as my own ideas) so we can all learn together.

Don't overthink it – a few lines are all that it takes.

What are you doubling down on? Let's lift each other up.

Cheers, Jay
