Foster a community of novice to experienced cyclists to promote healthy urban living and lifestyle choices.
- Tools and teaching: We provide the means, but not the fish. Heroku will not maintain your bicycle for you; we won't provide a on-site mechanic or replacement parts.
- Safety: Heroku bicycles need to be in good working order with helmets and lighting available.
Enable actively cycling Herokai to repair and improve their cycling experience via a well-equipped workshop.
Educate those newer to the sport about safety and maintenance, while giving experienced cyclists opportunity to share what they know. Encourage a wide breadth of topics, from beginner to advanced.
Let novices try urban cycling, experienced riders try new types of bicycles, and allow interested Remokai to borrow bicycles for commuting or weekend adventures.
- Lack of ownership, motivation, and time commitment
- Unclear boundaries, budget, and process
- Bicycles owned by Heroku (goal: need 6, want 8, wish 10)
- Heroku bicycles being actively used by Herokai and Remokai - trips to SFDC & trips to/from hotels = money saved on Ubers
- Educational workshops given by Herokai or external teachers (goal: 1/month)
- Recreational rides involving new cyclists, Remokai, and/or Heroku bicycles
- Heroku bicycles being repaired by Herokai
- More cycling overall - growing number of commuting cyclists, etc
- Owned by JD
