You are administering the turing test to an entity via facebook messenger. At the end of the test, you must decide whether the entity with whom you are speaking is a human or if it is a machine. If you decide correctly, then you have "successfully administered" the turing test. The following are constraints:
- The duration of the test can be no longer than 1 hour
- You can use any feature of facebook messenger, including the "typing" notification
- You may not use your camera or microphone (any images or sounds sent must be copies already existing images or sound... think google images)
#Level 1, language/alphabet constraints 1.1. Assume that you and the entity with whom you are speaking are both capable of conversing in English. Using text, emojis, facebook stickers, giphy, or any images from google images. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
1.2. Assume that you and the entity with whom you are speaking do not share a common language, but that you both speak a germanic language (your languages use the same character set and share some words). Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
1.3. Assume that you and the entity with whom you are speaking do not share a common language, and that the languages you do speak use entirely different character sets (e.g., you write in traditional chinese and they write in arabic). Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
1.4. Assume that you and the entity with whom you are speaking both speak english, but that you can only send messages encoded in traditional chinese. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these consitions?
1.5. Assume that you and the entity with whom you are speaking do not speak the same language, and that you can only send messages encoded in a character set that is not standard for either language. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
#Level 2, media constraints 2.1. You can no longer send messages containing characters from any language's native character set. You can still use any other feature of facebook messenger (recall you cannot use a camera or microphone; you must send existing content). You can also still send emojis, non-printable characters, math symbols, etc. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
2.2. You can no longer send or receive text of any sort. However, you can type stuff in the box and make the "typing" notification appear then delete it without sending, and the entity may do the same. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
2.3. You can only send/receive facebook stickers. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
2.4. You can only send/receive facebook stickers from that weird clam collection. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
2.5. You can only send or request cash using the facebook messenger money feature. You are not allowed to put anything in the "what is this payment for" field - it must be left blank. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
2.6. You can only play the "games" in facebook messenger. Note, there are a couple dozen games to choose from; each time you finish playing a game, a notification gets sent that says your score. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
2.7. You can only send the thumbs up. Recall there is a little thumbs up, a medium-sized thumbs up, and a large thumbs up. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
#Level 3, absurd alphabets 3.1. For the following problems, you and the entity with whom you are speaking are using a heavily modified version of facebook messenger. You can only send/receive text, but while you are typing there is a "typing" notification. The set of characters that you may type will vary by the problem.
3.2. Your character set contains every gif in giphy. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
3.3. Your character set contains only those gifs that come up with you search "Britney" on giphy (http://giphy.com/search/britney). Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
3.4. Your character set contains only images of boats. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
3.5. Your character set contains only links to existing media (existing media meaning that you cannot create new media then send a link to it). Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
3.6. Your character set contains only links to facebook profiles. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
3.7. Your character set contains ten pictures, each of the same dog, each from a slightly different angle. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
#Level 4 4.1. You and the entity with whom you are speaking have different political alignments. Can you successfully administer the turing test under these conditions?
