In general, I'm trying to pare down my physical belongings to a small and very nice set. To that end, I really don't want or need gift staples such as trinkets, toys, cups/mugs/glasses/etc, or really much beyond the items I've enumerated above. I don't doubt I have forgotten things I would enjoy having, but I would rather get no present than something well-meaning but not within my tastes.
Very specifics items to totally avoid (really):
- Physical books
- Kitchen dishes (interesting kitchen tools are fine, just no cups/plates/forks/etc)
- Clothes
