Launched 3 years ago, Hack Club is a global network of student-led hacker clubs now spanning 315 high schools, 35 states, and 17 countries with an estimated 10,000 students impacted by our programs each year.
Our programs and annual budget are growing quickly and we’re seeking an experienced accountant to join our small team part-time to accomplish the following objectives:
- Lead, manage, and streamline the monthly close process
- Own the chart of accounts, making changes as needed with our evolving organization
- Develop strategies to improve accounting effectiveness, including the development and execution of process and system changes
- Support the Executive Director in understanding organization spend and management of restricted funds
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports for the board
- Ad-hoc consultation and production of financial reports as part of our fundraising and reporting processes
We’re looking for someone who has:
- 6-9 years of relevant accounting experience, with a degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
- Strong familiarity with Model A nonprofit fiscal sponsorship and 2+ years experience managing books of a fiscal sponsor
- Public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and experience working with growing nonprofits.
- Proven experience in areas such as month-end close, financial reporting, and finance systems implementation and maintenance.
- Fluency with U.S. GAAP
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets and QuickBooks Online.
- Ability to be flexible and comfortable with rapidly changing requirements.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, hyper growth environment.
Nice to haves:
- Knowledge of (or experience in) the technology industry.
- IFRS knowledge.
This is a part-time remote position and we are location agnostic. Compensation is $30-50 hourly with expected workload of 20 hours monthly.
