Gear Up reflections for Mod 3

How have you experienced microagressions in your time at Turing or in your life?

I haven’t noticed any micro aggressions at Turing. Everyone in our mod is respectful and deserving of respect.
If micro aggressions have occurred, then I was not present, or I was oblivious to them, which is a complete possibility.

What ways have you been able to address microagressions that you have seen happen?

I haven’t been exposed to this terminology before. What is defined here as a micro aggression I would probably write off to the aggressor being rude. I don’t know how I would address it should the occasion arise. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and probably wouldn’t say anything initially, to be honest. If it persisted, than it would seem to mean that person either intends to be rude, or is insensitive enough to not realize it, or doesn’t care.

What role could you play in interupting microagressions for others?

Tragedy of the Commons

This site is kind of a remarkable way to illustrate a point. It's a thought experiment that if someone tried to describe might not work, but by making it interactive and well designed it has some resonance. The primary issue I would have if devil's advocating it, is that it's a terrible representation of how it the real world actually works, but, since it's designed to illustrate a moral, ends up being effective. After all, analyze whether or not any given Aesop's Fable is realistic or applicable in every situation misses the point entirely. Thisis no different.

Universal Basic Income

We didn't write in this one. There was an extended discussion that started with small groups and moved to the whole room. Here's a picture of the final board.
