Instructions for Adding Custom Naming for Arduino USB Device

The following is capturing instructions on how to add custom naming for an Arduino Leonardo (or generic pro-micro) for my Arcade Controller device. I wanted to have a simple record so that when I inevitably come back to this someday I can recall how I accomplished this. Reference was taken from the following YouTube video (https://youtu.be/hoCOq9Ngp44?t=1156) at approximately 19m16s.

WINDOWS Instructions:

Create a new set of folders: ~\Documents\Arduino\hardware\daemonbite\avr

Copy everything from C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\arduino\avr to this new folder.

SSL CSR & localhost self-signing

Generate a CSR for production use:

openssl req -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -sha256 -keyout mysite-ssl.private-key.pem -out mysite-ssl.csr -subj '/C=US/ST=California/L=Palo Alto/O=My Company Inc./CN=*.example.com'

Generate a long-lasting self-signed cert & trust it for localhost development usage:

openssl req -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -sha256 -x509 -days 3650 -keyout selfsigned.key -out selfsigned.crt -subj '/C=US/ST=Anywhere/L=Anywhere/O=Localhost/CN=local.example.com'

The reason of creating this script is that Endpoint Security VPN installs it's own application firewall kext cpfw.kext which prevents for example PPTP connections from this computer, which is not appropriate if you need subj connection just from time to time.

# The script checks if Enpoint Security VPN is running. If it is, then it shuts it down, if it is not, it fires it up.
# Or, make an Automator action and paste the script.
