ESSENTIALS FROM THE CR-30 DISCORD: | |
1. Loosen the small belt connecting the conveyor to its stepper to avoid overheating. | |
2. Remove the conveyor and loosen all the screws on the heat bed plate except the front center by one quarter turn. | |
3. Tape the +5V pin on the USB cable to eliminate potential circuilating currents that may damage the Octoprint Pi. | |
4. Install the "Community Firmware": https://github.com/CR30-Users/Marlin-CR30 | |
5. PID Tune the hot end and bed. | |
6. Tune E-steps. | |
7. Level the bed following Nak3D's YouTube video. | |
8. Tune bed level side-to-side using ???'s repeating leveling pattern. | |
9. Level the bed front-to-back using a leveling wedge. | |
10. Tune Z-steps by printing 100mm blocks. | |
MY OWN FIXES: | |
Conveyor Cupping: | |
Silly me, I thought it would be a good idea to give the conveyor a good scrub since I had it off the machine. | |
Getting it wet was apparently a bad idea. After reinstalling the conveyor, I found that my conveyor was cupping on the | |
sides, leaving only the center 100cm or so touching the heat-bed, and making printing anything outside of that impossible. | |
This was solved by: | |
1. Ensure that the conveyor tensioner blocks are level. | |
2. Raise the bed plates by 2cm. This requires re-leveling from scratch including raising the Y axis hard-stop plates. | |
3. Tension the conveyor to be snug but not overly tight. | |
4. Run the conveyor slowly for 3 full rotations with a bed temperature of 70C while placing and replacing textbooks on the | |
conveyor in order to "iron" it flat. The books will retain heat so temperatures higher than 70C may be a bad idea. | |
5. Place small, flat weights on the cupping parts of the belt while printing. I used 2 steel "321" blocks I happened to have. | |
