Jewel Washing, also known as Gem Washing, is a high octane, high value, low volume, Get-ATPs-Quick alternative to Droid Washing.

Jewel Traders count for the purposes of ATP generation, so the main process will be similar.

The benefits to Jewel Trading are tied to its high value goods, a single trade can generate upwards of 4 million credits of "earnings"! For less than 1000 APs of trading, one can earn over a 500 ATPs!

This extremely convenient method of earning ATPs is not without risk though! It involves transporting goods worth over 3 million a long distance, through at least 3 Clusters, at least one of which will be a Neutral Zone Cluster. The washing itself also takes place in Open Space. And finally, trade volume is greatly influenced by the Production Level of the Jewel Trader.

Purchasing non-produced jewels at a Jewel Trader costs 2000 credits more than the Jewel Trader buy price. It is thus most credit and APs efficient to wash the most expensive Jewels - Ruby Jewels. There is no signifcant difference in prices based on distance of the Jewel Trader's Cluster to the originating Faction's Jewels. For example a Golden Beryl may sell for ~??? in Federation Rashkir Core and ~??? in Federation South Human, a difference of ??, or ??%.

Steps to Jewel Washing:

  1. Identify two Jewel Merchants of differing factions. Preferably an Empire Jewel Trader and any other faction's Jewel Trader. The locations of Jewel Merchants can be identified by checking some User Mappers, checking planetary/starbase Gossip for local information, or asking other pilots.

  2. Buy Jewels at the starting Jewel Trader. Buy as much as the destination Jewel Trader has as its maximum, or as much as one can carry.

  3. Sell the jewels at the destination Jewel Trader. Sell until the Jewel trader has one (1) more Jewel than its Minimum

  4. Sell the remainder of the jewels, while buying an amount equal to the remainder.

  5. Repeat step 3 until statisfied.

Example:

In this example, the pilot DukeDrake will be buying Jewels from an Empire Jewel Trader and selling to a Federation Jewel Trader.

  1. DukeDrake uses a mapper to identify a Jewel Trader in Watibe (EWSC) and Tiafa (FSH). The Federation Jewel Trader in Tiafa is reported to be level 5, so it has a maximum of 600 Ruby Jewels, and a minimum of 300. It's also reported to already have 170 Ruby Jewels already in its stocks.

  2. The Empire Jewel Trader in Watibe has 410 tons of Ruby Jewels for sale. DukeDrake buys all 410 with the assistance of an Enhanced Magnetic Scoop, and with Packing Mastery Advanced Skill, is able to pack it to fit in 205 tons of cargo space.

  3. DukeDrake travels through EWS, Split, and FSH to the Federation Jewel Trader in Tiafa. Unpacks all jewels. Consumes a Capri Stim. Sells 131 Ruby Jewels to the Jewel Trader. The Jewel Trader now has 301 tons of Ruby Jewels in Stock, one more than its minimum.

  4. DukeDrake open the Jewel Trader's trade screen in a new tab/window. Sets the trade to sell the remaining 279 tons while buying back 279 tons. Commits the trade.

  5. DukeDrake refreshes the page, sending the data of the last trade again. DukeDrake does this three hundred twenty one (321) times.

Analysis:

  • Earnings: 279 x 17 900 = 4 994 100, or approximiately 1.25 ATP per trade, before any other boosts from Diversity.
  • Cost: 279 x 19 900 = 5 552 100
  • Cost per ATP: ( Cost - Earnings ) / ATPs Gained : ( 5552100 - 4994100 ) / 1.25 = 446 400 Credits Per ATP ()
  • DukeDrake has an Alliance Trade Uplink, has a neutral class ship and no faction equipment, and with a alliance territory diversity of 6, has a 48% boost to ATP generation. They gain 1.85 ATP per trade instead, and each ATP only costs 301 622 Credits.
  • DukeDrake's total ATP Earnings:
  • Initial sale: 131 tons x 17 900 credits/ton = 2 344 900 earnings, 0.87 ATP
  • Repeated Sales (322): 322 * 279 x 17 900 = 1 608 100 200, 595.00 ATP
  • APs spent trading: 969
  • Aps spent travelling: 2375
  • Aps Spent overall: 3344
  • Credits spent: 179.7 Million
  • Turnover increase: 1.61 Billion
  • ATP gained: 595 ATPs
  • Getting Credit hacked for 30million per round: Priceless
