####Disparities in the School Safety Spending at the Department of Education

####In the last few years, some very high profile incidents of traffic violence injuring or killing school children, the Department of Education still spends far more dollars and resources on terror and violent crime and prevention over traffic safety lessons and staffing and street resources. (by this I mean developing pick up and drop off protocols, encouraging walking and biking to school)

####There are over 5,000 school safety agents at schools-according to the Department of Education School safety plan, their role is 

School Safety Agents, who are part of the NYPD, work in conjunction with the school administrators to help maintain order and safety.

School Safety Agents have the following responsibilities:

Respond to immediate security situations

Help school personnel maintain discipline and order

Follow visitor control procedures

Patrol areas within and immediately surrounding the school building

Prevent intruders from entering the school building

Report serious incidents to the school administration and School Safety
