Fish Shell function for sourcing standard .env files

envsource

⚠️ NOTE (20.5.2023): I don't really use this function at all anymore since there are now tools such as Taskfile, which reads the .env file for me sparing me the need to pollute my session with environment variables.

I've been using Fish shell for years which is great and all, but one thing that has got me frustrated is using it with .env files.

When attempting to run source .env in a project, I usually encounter this problem:

#![warn(rust_2018_idioms)]
#[derive(Debug)]
pub struct StrSplit<'haystack, D> {
remainder: Option<&'haystack str>,
delimiter: D,
}
impl<'haystack, D> StrSplit<'haystack, D> {
pub fn new(haystack: &'haystack str, delimiter: D) -> Self {

BLS Signature for Busy People

BLS Signature for Busy People

Summary

  • BLS stands for

    • Barreto-Lynn-Scott: BLS12, a Pairing Friendly Elliptic Curve.
    • Boneh-Lynn-Shacham: A Signature Scheme.
  • Signature Aggregation

  • It is possible to verify n aggregate signatures on the same message with just 2 pairings instead of n+1.

How to create a Bootable MacOS Recovery USB from Linux

If your Mac is out-of-order or you otherwise cannot download macOS from the App Store, you can still create a bootable OS X recovery USB, and you can use that to create an Installer USB.

The downloads used in this process are legal and freely avaliable - including disk images directly from Apple's IT support pages, and open source utilities for extracting and converting pkg, dmg, and HFS+.

YubiKey GPG + GitHub setup

Yubikey + GPG + Github + Keybase

The following guide are steps that can be used to generate GPG keys on a YubiKey, use the gpg keys to sign github commits, and publish the public gpg key to Keybase.

Why is this a good idea?

  1. Generating and storing GPG keys on a YubiKey allows the private key to be protected and ported between physical machines.
  2. Signing git commits adds an extra layer of verification that code changes originated from an trusted source.
  3. Using a YubiKey + touch-to-sign requires a physical presence to use the GPG signing key.
  4. GitHub supports restricting commits to a repo to only those that are signed.
  5. Putting a physical stamp on your code commits invokes a feeling of pride.

raylib: 6 years of fun

raylib has been in development for more than six years now, it has been an adventure! I decided to resume how it was my personal experience working in this free and open source project for such a long time. Just note that the following article explains raylib from a personal point of view, independently of the technical aspects and focusing on the personal adventure; for technical details on raylib evolution, just check raylib history and raylib changelog.

raylib inceptum

Summer 2012 was ending, I had been working hard on my brand new startup emegeme for about 9 months, developing videogames. I was trying to find my blue-ocean, so, I developed and published two games for Windows Phone platform using the ama

Go 2 generics counterproposal: giving up restricting types

Go 2 generics counterproposal: giving up restricting types

"I want to make a generic function which works on any type that satisfies these and these constraints."

When we think about generics, this is the sort of problem that pops up into our minds. The critical part is restricting the set of types our function intends to work on. Trying to solve this problem of restriction has led people to what I call reasons why we hesitate to have generics in Go.

C++ templates with horrific error messages, or even it's new concepts, Java's T extends Comparable<T>, Rust's generic traits, Haskell's type classes, and sadly even contracts from the [original generics proposal by the Go Team](https://go.googlesource.com/proposal/+/master/desig
