Why is it important? This was a question raised to me by my kids last night. I said: "Because later on you'll have kids of your own and you have to teach them maths." That's the best answer I could come up with. Apart from that, you use it everyday really.
-
That's why I'm reading up on maths everyday. I'm going back to the basics. I found a nice book in the library that I come back to everyday. A while ago I did some long division exercises, operations heirarchy, and some Gauss addition problem

Tonight we'll be doing a new set of times table. First daughter did 8 times table, second one did four times table. It's really interesting when you see the aha moment in kids eyes.

Today I did at least two new stuff that's out of the ordinary. Instead of buying something, I sold something. Well, I posted my watch for sale. I love watches but I think I need money now more than watches. So, I'm getting rid of watches that doesn't spark joy for me. First to go is my Hamilton Khaki Fied Mechanical. I bought this @ 2017 and seldomly used it. It's not my taste. I put it up for sale in my trusty Australian Watch Buy Swap Sell group. Surprisingly, there's a lot of interest in the watch. I'll be meeting a buyer tomorrow to close the sale. All the effort I did was to take some well curated pictures of the watch and posted it up online to turn it into cash. Cool.

This morning, I also did one thing that's out of the ordinary. I read some typescript code. I stumbled upon a simple tutorial from Microsoft. It's a two part front-end programming tutorial. I've read it and there were a few typos here and there that needs correction. I was planning to submit a PR to fix the issues but so
This time I'm keeping it short so I could focus on them.
For my kids:
- I'm continuing their tutorial lessons every night. I'll focus on maths and writing. It's important to know the times table in maths. I'll be buying more resources to teach them how to do maths easily. I would love to teach them the shortcuts in math so that they'll be better and grow confident when dealing with numbers. Still doing this.
For my wife:
Believe in yourself, you can do it Have the right mindset, be involved Some of the problems are a challenge But your worries can be resolved. @ms_artajos pic.twitter.com/gwwzCkxyIf

Looks like it's possible but it's not nicely formatted as you would see it in a more sophisticated blogging platform like Medium.
Yesterday was the start of autumn here in Australia. It was sweltering. It will be again today. Despite the heat, I am sleeping here in our bedroom without A/C while everybody sleeps down stairs where the only A/C in house is. It's the end of my favourite season and it'll start to get cold again.
I brought my work computer this weekend. I usually do but I always end up not touching it during the weekends, so what's the point? It's a bit of a workout when I'm lugging the thing to and from work while using public transport. I think the idea is to spend a little bit of time reading code and being more efficient at work. But I never do. This weekend it'll be different. I'll open it up -- I won't bother connecting to the internet. I will just read code. In doing so, I hope to get a little bit better and pick up a few gems in there so I'd be more efficient at work.
It's start of the weekend once again. Two days of time that's dedicated for personal use. I usually don't plan to use it wisely and the week

I reported to work. Did the work and logged out before 5PM. Yesterday was stressful for me, good thing today was a little bit lighter. Although I did not escape without an additional bug to my name but it is simple to fix.
-
Dude did not report to work today because she's not feeling well. I advised her to take the day off and do something she likes so that she'll forget about the stuff at her work. She made us labour of love muffins. I particularly like the dates and walnuts one.
-
Tonight the whole family went out for a walk -- apparently it's the last Tuesday of summer today.
-
I also paid some bills. I paid the credit card bill in full. It's the first time I reviewed my transactions and found out that I was charged by Amazon close to $40.00 in one day. After doing some investigation, I saw that there were some rogue downloads that went through on one day. Multiple $3.99 downloads from the app store. Turns out, it was my youngest who made the downloads. Her account is now blocked
🏫 This is a full-on Monday at work. It really felt like a Friday when I'm ready to log out and run for cover. It was staging cut today. So in the afternoon they made a cut to staging to be a release candidate for tomorrow's prod release. My team found a minor bug relating to my feature -- I had to resolve it immediately to make the release candidate for tomorrow. My mind was set on other simpler tasks. But no, not today. I was offered much bigger and high pressure task to finish right before the day was ending.
My mind was set to leave early, have my PR merged in and work on the next PR. Well that did not happen, plus there are a few more comments in my PR that needs addressing. It'll take time to make it right and submit it to completion. Whew. These things happen, when things don't go according to plan you do the thing that's the most pressing -- needs your attention. Others can sit right behind you while they wait for their turn.
Lunch time was a good when I was still oblivious with the work that

Mostly daddy stuff: I woke up early to drop of my wife to work, prepared my kids to come with me to the little one's class which is in my wife's workplace as well. Helped the eldest shop for her backpack -- paid with her own money. Lunch was a bit iffy because we don't know where to eat and everybody's hungry but eventually we sorted it out.
-
Had an awesome siesta when we got home. When we woke up, it's time for church.
-
After church, we received an invite to hang out at a friends house. We don't have to cook at home, we went straight there. Great conversation over wine. It couldn't be more perfect. We arrived late and slept even later.
Yesterday was smooth sailing until the very last hour of the day. Jono came to me and was asking about an issue that's happening on prod. It's related to my stuff, and it wipes out the page. It's a very important page in the app. So, I screwed up again. This my third time to screw up the app in month. Three strikes. Usually, in a sporting game three strikes and you're out. I don't want to be out. I am doing my due dillegence to write all the tests, test the fucking thing manually, and I work closely with our QA to make sure these things don't happen when we ship it. But will all the pre-cautions taken, one scenario and it wipes out. How frustrating that is!
This was a new piece of work for me. I thought this was my saving grace after all the blunders I caused previously. It was not. I tried and failed again. What am I going to do to redeem myself? The issue that's causing it is already fixed in the upcoming release no action to do for me -- I was a release short of redeeming myself but it did not make it.
