Thanks @brainopia, but if I am using rbenv? How there I can install this patch?
@Haihappen, @aboltart, if you have rbenv+ruby-build, then
curl https://raw.github.com/gist/1661877/9438a7f8e75ede2597ed5216a87687d26239413e/gistfile1.sh > $(dirname `which ruby-build`)/../share/ruby-build/1.9.3-p0-fast
rbenv install 1.9.3-p0-fast
rbenv global 1.9.3-p0-fast
@brainopia merci :)
ok, recipe for rbenv+ruby-build was missing one crucial part, but thanks to @ctrochalakis it was corrected, so I suggest to rerun snippet to install patched ruby :)
I'm using RVM and install it using:
rvm install 1.9.3 -n fast --patch falcon --with-gcc=clang
--with-gcc=clang is required for macs running XCode 4.2 upwards
But make fails with: https://gist.github.com/1669788
Any ideas?
@moomerman, thank you for a report. Unfortunately I don't have Mac, so that could not find the bag by myself.
Could you try https://gist.github.com/1672977 ? Let's work on adaptation to Mac there, and when it will compile, I'll update this Gist and correlated patches.
@moomerman, I've update this gist. could you try again?
@funny-falcon that works for me - thanks!
@funny-falcon I was unable to cleanly apply the latest version of this patch but was able to apply this version, however I lost readline. Any ideas?
As you can see here, I could not reproduce your error with latest version.
This versions differ only in selected integer types, so that they able to apply or not simultaneously.
Could you be more verbose with you question?
And my patch do not touch readline
in any way. It is more probably you didn't install headers for readline library in your system.
@funny-falcon ah, maybe it's because I did not explicitly check out the 1_9_3_p0
branch? I'll try again with your exact method in that hastebin.
@funny-falcon, following @brainopia's advice above to install this patch with RVM, I see

Thanks for your help; I don't want to push any RVM support on to you 😉 so please let me know if I should report this to RVM and I will.
@jc00ke, that is because Github now makes redirect from url like https://gist.github.com/raw/.... to https://raw.github.com/.... and curl catch it only if called with -L
key (like curl -L https://gist.github.com/raw/...
).
If you'd look at downloaded file, you didn't ask this question, cause Github put descriptive message in it.
Use
curl -L https://gist.github.com/raw/1658360/2eee5541435663deddd674617bf26ae645b015bd/cumulative_performance.patch > $rvm_path/patches/ruby/1.9.3/p0/falcon.patch
or
curl https://raw.github.com/gist/1658360/2eee5541435663deddd674617bf26ae645b015bd/cumulative_performance.patch > $rvm_path/patches/ruby/1.9.3/p0/falcon.patch
Ah, thank you! I've had a terrible head cold & apparently my brain is not quick enough to debug this on my own. I'm running the install with the patch right now & it was applied successfully (of course!) so thank you for your help! That redirect has caused me issues in the past. I should have remembered that.
@jc00ke, "falcon.patch" is now included into rvm https://gist.github.com/1688857#gistcomment-79311
How about rbenv/ruby-build?
