Introduction

  • This guide is for developers or rez enthusiasts wondering how to get started creating a development environment for working on or debugging rez.
  • While the steps are applicable to Linux, this guide was written while walking through the steps on a Windows virtual machine, so it focuses on Windows. It uses bash so that it more closesly resembles what would be seen on Linux.
- Throughout this process I use a virtual machine that has been configured using a [setup script](https://gist.github.com/Jawabiscuit/6298e2c4bebe5ddde694df9d18d9451b) but it is not necessary. It might be worthwhile looking at since it provides some information about the testing environment.
  • This guide highlights a workaround for creating an editable install using pip. Pip is normally used this way to install a Python package that is either stored locally instead of on Pypi and is robust enough that it and can easily clone and install remote repo. There are various reasons why a developer would

Postgres WSL install instructions

Install psql on WSL

Home

This install is pretty different from previous versions of psql install instructions for windows. This install uses the WSL and Ubuntu shell.

We are installing this through the Ubuntu command line which is different from the other Ubuntu install instructions because those instructions use Ubuntu's GUI, which we don't have access to here.

NOTE: Since this is a service that is running on Ubuntu, you should be in the the Ubuntu file system when running these commands!

Encoding to Hap from the command line using FFmpeg

Encoding to Hap from the command line using FFmpeg

For users who prefer working with a command line or need to access advanced encoding settings for Hap the popular FFmpeg library can be used to work with Hap movies.

  1. If this is your first time using FFmpeg you may need to install it on your system, or compile it from source. In either case be sure that Snappy is enabled as part of the binary. If you already have FFmpeg on your system with Snappy enabled, you can skip this step.

You can check that your version of FFmpeg can encode Hap using

    ffmpeg -encoders | grep hap

FFmpeg cheat sheet for 360 video

FFmpeg Cheat Sheet for 360º video

Brought to you by Headjack

FFmpeg is one of the most powerful tools for video transcoding and manipulation, but it's fairly complex and confusing to use. That's why I decided to create this cheat sheet which shows some of the most often used commands.

Let's start with some basics:

  • ffmpeg calls the FFmpeg application in the command line window, could also be the full path to the FFmpeg binary or .exe file
