Open Source & Feelings (OS&F) is a new technology conference focused on providing tools and support for people seeking to implement and improve technology %w(access tools education).sample in their communities.
We're early in the planning process, but some language describes our mission as:
Open Source & Feelings is a two-day event exploring the Humanities & Arts through the lens of open source technology, those tools and products we use to richly experience & interact with each other, our communities, and the world.
One of our most immediate needs is visual identity for the project. The goal of this document is to describe our need well enough to jump-start conversation. Given that this is the first year, we have no existing brand materials for you to reference.
Please provide a quote for each item in the list below, if at all possible. Quotes can either be a static price or a range of hours at a fixed hourly price. All quotable items should include at least one round of revisions.
OS&F is in the fundraising process. Visual branding will greatly enhance our fundraising efforts, so we are hoping for quick turnaround on the Required Deliverables. Please provide your earliest start date and estimated completion time for each item in the deliverables below.
- A logo suitable for both print and web delivered as either an Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or SVG file.
- Logo should feature either the full or abbreviated name of the event. We have significant affection for the ampersand, so it's either:
- Open Source & Feelings or
- OS&F
- Logo should be workable in both color and greyscale.
- Logo should reflect the core ethos/mission of the event. Words we are using to describe the event include Open, Inclusive, Kind, and Empowering.
- Logo should feature either the full or abbreviated name of the event. We have significant affection for the ampersand, so it's either:
- A color palette of at least four colors suitable for both print and web.
- Palette should include suggested uses of each color in a web design.
- Palette should not impede color-blind individuals.
- A visual style guide, similar to &yet's visual style guide, but much simpler.
- The visual style guide should include guidelines regarding typography, button styles, and page headers.
- The visual style guide should incorporate the color palette and logo in examples.
- An additional logo, following the same guidelines as in the Required Deliverables.
- This logo should use the alternate form of the event name you provide in the Required Deliverables (so we have both the long and short versions).
Once we reach an agreement on the deliverables and timeline, we will sign a contract guaranteeing payment terms. Payment will be in USD, with a negotiable deposit before work begins and the remainder due upon acceptance of the agreed upon work.
Thank you so much for having a look at this document. I'm available by email and twitter for any questions you have, and I sincerely look forward to talking with you about OS&F.
