Beginning mod 2 I had already unknowingly been using some of the agile techniques. Our PD session on this topic definitley
solidified the techniques I was using, and I thought it was one of the most valuable PD sessions we've had so far. I think
that using agile is so much more time and cost effective and is also more effective at giving customers what they want/need.
I saw my role as a partner as being the organizer and driver of the group. A big part of my role was keeping things on a
reasonable timeline and also keeping myself and my partner focused on the right things. One of my top three strenghtsfinder
strengths was leadership. I didn't believe this at first, but now that I'm pushing myself further I'm definitley seeing that
come out a bit more. | |

Date of feedback conversation:
5-7-18 | |
How did you prepare for the conversation?
I just thought about how the project in general as well as my interactions with my partner
How did the conversation go for you? What was easy about the conversation? What was more difficult?
The conversation went well, my partner and I got along great, so there was very little to talk about that was negative or
difficult | |
What principles of feedback did you use in the conversation?
I think honesty was the biggest tool that I implemented. I also thought it was very important to pair any negative feedback
I had with constructive recommendations
What is your biggest challenge when giving feedback to someone else? How do you want to overcome that challenge?
I am naturally a very forgiving and laid back person, so sometimes even when there is a problem I can be rather passive
about it because by the time giving feedback is a priority, the problem is just not a big deal to me/has been forgotten.
I would like to be better about that and be sure to mention any issues that arose for the benefit of my partner and their
future partners | |
How would you describe your ability to communicate feedback? How has this experience affected your communication skills?
I feel that I am fairly good at giving feedback, I'm generally a fairly honest person, and I feel that that is the most
important component of giving effective feedback.

I began my college career at Casper College in 2013. Due to the fact that I was homeschooled, I was actually 14 at the time,
and had a very unclear picture of what I wanted to study. I tried a little bit of everyhting ranging from chemistry,
astronomy, and physics to music theory, history, and art. I finally took a biology class in 2015 and absolutley fell in
love with it. During my time at Casper College, I held down two jobs to help pay for my education, and ended up working
as a TA for the biology department, as well as a counselor for the Casper Mountain Science Camp. I studied hard, eventually
transferred to the University of Wyoming and got my biology degree. In my last semester at UW, I took a software engineering
class and decided that software engineering was my passion after all. I chose to transfer to Turing school in January of 2018.

Why you want to connect with this person and what you hope to talk about:
On linkedIn, she describes herself as a software
engineer, so I think we could have a lot in common. I would like to talk about what it's like to be a female in the industry
as well as strategies for getting a good job right off the bat.
When you will contact them by and how you plan to meet:
I will contact her by the second week of mod 2, and I'd like to meet in person ideally
What your follow-up will look like once you've met with them:
I would just like to stay in touch through the point at which I actually get a job, and possibly as a mentor situation after
that. | |
networking: | |
I would like to utilize the front range front end meetup in early july. I feel that there will be a lot of relevant people
there, and it would be good to start getitng my name into the local industry. I will use the relationships I form as a
possible in to the industry as well as getting a better grasp on what is currently occuring in the industry.
