Capstone Expectations

Today marks the beginning of your capstone time. During this time, there will be no lectures, and little formal structure to your day. We do still expect you attend regularly, but recognize that you may have interviews and such during this time.

The only formal requirement is that you check in with an instructor by 10:00 AM every day, or that an instructor has approved working from home for the day. Failure to check in on two consequtive days means you will not graduate (final push! You can do it!)

Capstones are due: 9/28

  • Practice Presentations will occur that day. We'll run through your presentations, offer notes, and then you'll have time to practice them again to groups.
  • In order to graduate, as well as present (and make a great impression!) you will need to turn in an approved capstone by 9/28.

Hiring Day is: 9/29

Bring to the checkin:

  • What you did yesterday
  • What you're working on today
  • What you need help with today

Capstone Rehearsal - 9/28 @ 9:00AM

Attending Capstone Rehersal is Mandatory

  • Arrive at 9:00 AM - Do not be late!
  • We will be doing rehearsals of your presentations and getting feedback
  • We'll be creating videos, practicing our pitches for the day, discussing the companies that will be present
  • We will be busy all day so ensure your capstone is ready to present by Tuesday

Schedule for Rehearsal

  • Student rehearsals pt 1 (9:00am-12:00pm) with Liz and James
  • First whole class run-through
  • Instructor Feedback
  • Small group run-through
  • Mocktail Party with James
  • Student rehearsals pt 2 (2:00pm-3:30pm) with Liz and James

Capstone Presentations - 9/29 @ 9:00AM

2:30 PM – Networking Mingle
2:45 PM – Welcome and Company Introductions
3:00 PM – Capstone Project Presentations
graduates present an overview of their personal projects. They’ll explain what they’ve built, show off the technical details, and answer brief questions from our panel of experts (2 panelists) and audience. (6 minutes total each- presentation and feedback)
4:30-5:30 - Speed-Micro Interviews
In the afternoon, you'll meet each of the companies. Learn more about their hiring needs. Interviews are 5 minutes long, which is just enough time to decide whether you're interested in continuing the conversation.
5:30 PM – Networking Happy Hour
Connect with all the attendees in a less formal setting and enjoy some drinks and appetizers.
