Sugar Cream Pie

or "Hoosier Pie" originally from the 1800s Amish settlers. Makes one 9" pie. | |
1 cup sugar | |
1⁄2 cup all-purpose flour | |
1 cup half-and-half | |
1 cup heavy cream | |
1 tsp. vanilla extract | |
Freshly grated nutmeg, to garnish | |
Be awesome and make your own crust or use prepared pie crust. Refrigerate crust for at least 30 minutes prior to baking. Preheat oven to 375° | |
Bake unfilled crust for about 15 minutes until the edges start browning. Mix sugar and flour well, then mix in the liquid ingredients. Pour into parbaked crust and bake until filling is set and jiggles in the center a little when side of pie is tapped - about 90 minutes. Grate nutmeg on top before serving and enjoy! |
