How to compile ffmpeg on Amazon Linux (EC2)

ffmpeg -v

the nasm binary latest version on EC2 is 2.10 but last version of x264 needs nasm 2.13 minimum, i had to add the flag --disable-asm during build of x264. Also be sure to call make before make install for x264.

And ffmpeg -v is an obsolete flag, we need to use ffmpeg -version
