Acronyms Seriously Suck - Elon Musk

From time to time, Musk will send out an e-mail to the entire company to enforce a new policy or let them know about something that's bothering him. One of the more famous e-mails arrived in May 2010 with the subject line: Acronyms Seriously Suck:

There is a creeping tendency to use made up acronyms at SpaceX. Excessive use of made up acronyms is a significant impediment to communication and keeping communication good as we grow is incredibly important. Individually, a few acronyms here and there may not seem so bad, but if a thousand people are making these up, over time the result will be a huge glossary that we have to issue to new employees. No one can actually remember all these acronyms and people don't want to seem dumb in a meeting, so they just sit there in ignorance. This is particularly tough on new employees.

That needs to stop immediately or I will take drastic action - I have given enough warning over the years. Unless an acronym is approved by me, it should not enter the SpaceX glossary.

Forked from https://gist.github.com/fedir/5466075
Changes:
- allows to import Github gists into a local DASH database (https://kapeli.com/dash)
- gists are added to any existing snippet already in database
- filetypes are added, but support is very basic

Deploying from Git branches adds flexibility. Bring your feature branch up to date with master and deploy it to make sure everything works. If everything looks good the branch can be merged. Otherwise, you can deploy your master branch to return production to its stable state.

Updating a feature branch

First we'll update your local master branch. Go to your local project and check out the branch you want to merge into (your local master branch)

$ git checkout master

Fetch the remote, bringing the branches and their commits from the remote repository. You can use the -p, --prune option to delete any remote-tracking references that no longer exist in the remote. Commits to master will be stored in a local branch, remotes/origin/master.

Disable and Enable kdc on Mac OS X

If you don't like or need the kdc process on Mac OS X, which opens TCP port 88 to the world, you can disable it with launchctl.

Disable:

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.Kerberos.kdc.plist

Enable:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.Kerberos.kdc.plist
