How do I add this list please. Is there a quick way?
How do I add this list please. Is there a quick way?
Depends on what you are using. I am using Adguard Home and I just selected "Raw" up at the top and took that link and added it as a list to my DNS block list.
I've added the list to pihole and can see it's there and updated into databse. However my C2 is still showing adds?
It seems lines 5-7, 19, 21, 22, 24 are outdated:
server can't find XXX
Line 25 is a duplicate of line 23
(I added all valid entries to my router but youtube will still flood me with ads on my lg tv)
(I added all valid entries to my router but youtube will still flood me with ads on my lg tv)
These have no effect on the official Youtube TV app. DNS-based blocking does not work on Youtube ads.
Are these worth adding? Someone on redit claims blocking these names will "fix" ads:
cdpsvc.lgtvcommon.com
homeprv.lgtvcommon.com
nudge.lgtvcommon.com
rdl.lgtvcommon.com
recommend.lgtvcommon.com
lgsmartad.com
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comments/r8gi60/guide_how_to_block_ads_on_webos_without_pihole/
Added as a source on my Pihole - fingers crossed this works without preventing videos playing, looking good so far!
U have to disable QuickStart+ because this cache a lot !
After disable this, shut down ure tv and wait till 10 sec to power on.
Repeat that 2 times and all caches will be cleaned.
Also disable iPV6 on LG TV !!
I use this on LG C1
cdpbeacon.lgtvcommon.com
cdpsvc.lgtvcommon.com
homeprv.lgtvcommon.com
nudge.lgtvcommon.com
rdl.lgtvcommon.com
recommend.lgtvcommon.com
lgsmartad.com
service.lgtvcommon.com
But iam not sure if service.* will block also App updates and Firmware update. Did anyone now that?
Blocking service.* does have the most effect. After doing that all ads and recommended content will be gone. The WebOS works a lot faster now.
I'm in France, here's what i used; it seems to hide the "trending" widget, even if entering the application "store" seems to make it come back. I did not block the service endpoint as i suspect it will be required for firmware updates.

- AccuWeather widget
- recommendations
Personally, i am mostly interested in speeding up this laggy UI
Hey guys I don't have LG smart TV anymore, so I'm not following this closely. But the comments are valuable and if you want me to update the original gist, just let me know what to change.
Here's an updated one that I created today.

Here are more domains, from requests made by an LG TV with country set to Germany. I removed all URLs already mentioned in the comments above, so all of these are fresh:

Thanks, Zorast, however with so many people interested, it might be better to move from gists to GitHub? That way people can fork and propose PRs. In any case, all volunteer work in useful in whatever format!
It looks like @TheShawnMiranda made a repo here: https://github.com/TheShawnMiranda/LG-TV-Ad-Block/blob/master/list Maybe they can add you as a maintainer or something?
@wassname The gist he created seems to be a dupe of my list with entries from this comments section with a lot of copies.
@Zorast you are welcome to submit a PR if you find your own domains that your TV is accessing. But I will ask that you format them with the 0.0.0.0 prefix like Stephen Black's list. And do not add duplicates. Or entries that break the home dashboard or other useful functions. The goal is to make the experience better, not disconnect the TV from the internet entirely. us.lgtvsdp.com is an example of this.
If u have already an updated list I will delete mine now. So we can go with ure list if u be care of it!
Awesome, the power of open source!
Since you're maintaining a more up-to-date list now, I edited the gist description to point to your repo @TheShawnMiranda. I hope that's OK?
@wassname sure man, that's okay 👌
thanks for this, better list than I was finding on reddit. Nothing like spending over $3k on a TV and have it popping up ads 🤦
