A Gentle Introduction to Git Worktree

Git worktree has become a major part of how I use Git over the past year. Anytime I mention it somewhere however, I get reactions from people who have never heard about the feature. Others have heard about it, but don't know how exactly it works or why it's beneficial. That's why I decided to write a short tutorial/introduction on this awesome feature that is baked right into the very git you are already using. I hope this can help people discover worktrees and be a gentle introduction on how to get started using them.

What is Git worktree

Git worktree facilitates working with multiple branches. In a normal Git workflow, you can only ever have one branch checked out at a single time.

You can use a commandline field in your profile configuration to initiate an SSH connection on tab creation.

Step-by-step guide:

Open Settings (Ctrl+,)
Find the "list" array in the "profiles" object
Duplicate a Command Prompt profile ("commandline": "cmd.exe")
Change the commandline value to: ssh me@my-server -p 22 -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa (use your own connection command).

How To Work With Multiple Github Accounts on a single Machine

Let suppose I have two github accounts, https://github.com/rahul-office and https://github.com/rahul-personal. Now i want to setup my mac to easily talk to both the github accounts.

How to download your Udemy course videos using youtube-dl

$ youtube-dl --list-extractors | grep udemy

Steps

Get link to the course to download. e.g. https://www.udemy.com/course-name/
Login into udemy website, save the cookie from chrome using Chrome (Cookie.txt)[1] export extension. Save it to file udemy-cookies.txt
Get the link of the video that you want to download. usually in format. Use the command provided below where you have to replace the {course_link} and {path_to_cookies_file} with respective paths.

$ youtube-dl {course_link} --cookies {path_to_cookies_file}

Revert the full commit

Sometimes you may want to undo a whole commit with all changes. Instead of going through all the changes manually, you can simply tell git to revert a commit, which does not even have to be the last one. Reverting a commit means to create a new commit that undoes all changes that were made in the bad commit. Just like above, the bad commit remains there, but it no longer affects the the current master and any future commits on top of it.

git revert {commit_id}

Delete the last commit

Deleting the last commit is the easiest case. Let's say we have a remote origin with branch master that currently points to commit dd61ab32. We want to remove the top commit. Translated to git terminology, we want to force the master branch of the origin remote repository to the parent of dd61ab32:

Your Flask app object implements the __call__ method, which means it can be called like a regular function. When your WSGI container receives a HTTP request it calls your app with the environ dict and the start_response callable. WSGI is specified in PEP 0333. The two relevant environ variables are:

The initial portion of the request URL's "path" that corresponds to the application object, so that the application knows its virtual "location". This may be an empty string, if the application corresponds to the "root" of the server.
